Timothy Canty

Timothy Canty serves as Vice President, Investments in our San Diego office. With over 32 years of experience in the Finance industry, Tim previously worked as a Financial Advisor at Wells Fargo Advisors. In 1998, he founded his own firm, Emerald Bay Financial, which utilized predictive analytics to make informed decisions on purchasing distressed mortgages and notes from banks and hedge funds.

Tim was originally attracted to work in Finance because he saw it as an opportunity to help people from all walks of life in obtaining their dreams and goals through proper planning. He uses tools that allow him to build sensible plans which take giant obstacles typically discovered through the planning process, and break them down into realistic and manageable goals. Tim’s patience and understanding has helped break down many mountains for his clients into actionable and achievable steps.

Tim’s ideal client is a business owner or executive who can benefit from his experience in optimizing their firm’s retirement plan as well as building a personal plan to meet their own family’s goals. By offering efficient, objective, and unbiased advice and solutions, he is able to approach investing and planning as a holistic process to navigate clients through complicated challenges. As a Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA), he is able to provide addition insight into traditional retirement plans, such as a 401(k) or 403(b), as well as more advanced retirement and business planning, thus providing the opportunity for the business to plan for and grow to accommodate the needs of future generations.

Originally from Oakland, CA, Tim has lived in Rancho Santa Fe for 20 years with his wife and their twin teenage daughters. Tim attended the University of California, Davis and studied Agricultural Economics.
