Helping clients reach their financial goals is at the center of Kristi’s business. She encourages each client to take ownership of their financial futures, and acts as a financial coach along their way to success. Kristi takes a holistic approach and works alongside her clients’ other advisors in order to always help prepare the most comprehensive plan to meet each individual’s specific needs and wishes.
Having grown up around financial services, Kristi naturally gravitated toward a career in the field. Before her successful track record of 20 years with Wedbush, Kristi received a degree in accounting and subsequently spent time as a Certified Public Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers. She soon realized that her true passion was in investing, and eventually made the move to become a financial advisor. Kristi enjoys all aspects of helping her clients plan for their financial security, and utilizes a mix of stocks, mutual funds, bonds, alternative investments and annuities in her book of business. Kristi has an expansive practice that includes her work with small to medium sized corporate clients in both their 401(k) plans and non 401(k) type retirement plans. She also works with individuals and families on taxable and retirement investing, estate, tax, educational, goal and charitable donation planning. She has become a trusted knowledge source for her clients, helping them both choose the best investments inside the plan, and consulting on outside investment questions and opportunities. Her background and designations of Certified Public Accountant and Personal Financial Specialist equip her with the special tools to pull together all of the client’s financial positions, goals, and needs to formulate a plan to make it all happen.
Kristi received her Bachelors of Science in Accounting from Bob Jones University. Originally from Massachusetts, Kristi has called Arizona home for the past 33 years and counting. She is passionate about educating the younger generations on sound financial practices, and works with several high schools and their students. She also works with a variety of missionaries located around the world, and devotes time to help churches and related ministries set up accounts to accept charitable gifts and endowments. Kristi is married to her husband of 29 years, David, and has a daughter, Maya, and son, Ethan. Her family has hosted foreign exchange students for the last 10 years, which is something they find great fulfillment in doing. When not working with her clients, Kristi enjoys reading, designing and handmaking greeting cards, camping, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.

Achieving peak financial well-being for his clients is at the center of Matthew’s business philosophy. He employs a rigorous financial planning process with an immense amount of integrity, transparency, and always sets his clients up for maximum success. As one of a select few in the Southern California region, Matthew is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (“CDFA®”) who works with couples and their representatives to navigate the often-difficult financial aspects of divorce.
Matthew has been a financial advisor for more than 12 years. Prior to joining Wedbush in 2021, Matthew served as a Vice President at Hilltop Securities and spent the previous five years at Morgan Stanley as a financial advisor. He started his career in finance at M.L. Stern. Matthew customizes financial and retirement plans for individuals and corporations and tailors each plan to the needs of his clients. Through the planning process, Matthew gains an in-depth understanding of the client’s financial and personal goals which ultimately allows each client to make informed decisions about their finances and future. What really sets Matthew apart is his specialty in divorce finance. As a CDFA, Matthew is one of a very few who has the ability to take on and direct clients through the financial aspects of a divorce.
Mathew calls Santa Monica home, where he lives with his wife Jennifer. Outside of work, Matthew is an avid volunteer and enjoys giving back to his community at the Los Angeles Foodbank and The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. He and his wife enjoy spending time with their daughter, traveling abroad, taking cooking classes and hiking.
Skyward Financial helps its clients understand their individual risk profiles and how to effectively plan for their short, medium, and long-term goals. This team is rooted in Houston and pays homage to the city’s legacy in space exploration and the history of explorers using astrology to navigate the high seas when naming their group Skyward Financial. They are trusted and respected in their practice; consistently providing relevant investment opportunities and navigating risk to create a holistic approach for their clients’ financial well-being.
Matthew had an early start to his education in finance – at the dinner table with his father, highly-respected, long-time financial advisor and now partner, Lynn Houston. He learned early on that building clients a secure financial plan was the key to realizing their short and long-term visions, and the best was for him to build solid relationships with his clients.
After graduating from the University of Houston’s Bauer College of Business, Matthew commenced his career in finance as a trainee with Legg Mason, which was subsequently acquired by Smith Barney. Shortly after, Matthew moved to Southwest Securities because he wanted to grow his practice in a more regional firm. He went from Southwest to Wunderlich, which was acquired by B. Riley in 2018. He joined Wedbush Securities along with his partner and father, Lynn Houston, in 2021.
One of Matthew’s biggest career accomplishments is keeping his clients 100% invested during market volatility. He likens himself to being the calm during a storm, which is a quality his clients have come to depend on. Being product agnostic is what led Matthew and his Skyward Financial to Wedbush Securities. Being able to provide his clients with the best possible advice and guidance without having to strictly use proprietary products and services, has become his gold standard in serving clients.
Matthew takes pride in being a life-long Houstonian and has enjoyed making a life for his wife, Kristina and himself in the Houston area. The two recently welcomed their first child and look forward to raising their family. Matthew is an avid college sports fan, especially his alma mater, Houston Cougars. He also serves as President of the Houston Cougar Foundation, where he’s had been a board member for over 15 years. When not spending time with his family, Matthew enjoys researching growth stocks in search of the next big growth story.
